Laredo’s Cantina mexican restaurant on 9797 W Higgins never seems to have anyone in it.  The food isn’t so bad, but I think they do most of their business with the lunch crowd.  This is my second time eating here, and I’m never that impressed, but the food is decent enough when taken into consideration how close the location is from my house.  I don’t recommend Laredos if you are looking for high quality mexican food.

The chips and salsa were nothing to rave about.  The chips were hot and fresh, not my favorite consistency, and the salsa tasted like it came from Dominicks.  If you want to try truly superior salsa try the Mexican restaurant Wholly Frijole (a review we will shortly do).

A bus boy prepared out guacamole table side.  A nice added treat, but it seemed like a stretch for this restaurant.  Laredos is not a fancy restaurant and there is no need for this.  It’s not going to make me want to come back.

The strawberry margaritas were rather refreshing and the alcohol inside of them hit me fairly quickly.  The margaritas are served large, so be prepared to fiesta.

I enjoyed the mexican flautas for an entree.  The shredded beef was burned crispy black on the edges.  Like most mexican restaurants you wouldn’t know what you were eating if you were blind folded.  The food was rather bland and tasted the same as most things on their menu. Not a whole lot of flavors.

Laredos is a well kept restaurant and the service is pretty decent.  Most of the employees don’t speak much english to you.  It’s just a very chill place that has semi-decent food.  If they had outdoor seating it would certainly make the place a little more lively.  Next door there is a TGI Fridays, Ram Brewery, and a Quiznos.
